Calum Miller completed a fine week by following up his feat of setting a new club record last week with a dominant display in this year’s Club Championships. Rounds of 75 and 73 were enough to give Calum the win by 10 shots with runner-up, Derek Brown, picking up the Gus Drake Trophy for the second year in a row.

The field of 66 entrants battled a challenging course this year and Calum’s lead after day 1 was only 2 shots but he held his nerve on day 2 to extend his lead and win comfortably. Much was the manner of his performance that he could relax and enjoy the final hole as he headed down 18 towards a packed lower terrace of fellow members waiting to congratulate him on his first club championship win since 2017.

In the Director’s Trophy, Simon Shaw came out on top with a combined net score of 131 across the two days. After a net 66 on day 1, Simon assured us it was a “one-off”, only to follow it up with a net 65 on day 2 to produce a winning score despite some pressure from John Urban & Gareth Tandy who both shot net 63’s on day 2 to make things interesting.

Congratulations to this year’s winners!
